The lightweight module can be fitted to drones for aerial surveillance

The MUVE™ R430 by FLIR is a continuous radiation detection module that can be fitted to Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to remotely detect and identify radiation sources and radiological hazards. It allows first responders and security services to monitor and assess known or anticipated dangerous conditions at a safe distance across a broad range of scenarios including emergencies, environmental monitoring, and surveillance.

Quick deployment of the R430 allows for rapid hazard assessment, even in areas where contamination is difficult to access. Using an energy compensated Geiger–Müller tube, it can detect gamma and neutron emissions emitted by natural sources in the environment or nuclear, industrial, and medical material. Consequently, users can easily create contamination and hotspot maps to geo-pinpoint radiation hazards. The R430 has visible and audible alerts notifying the pilot immediately when a hazard or source is detected.

Key features

  • Detects gamma emissions between 20 keV – 3 Me.
  • Detects neutron emissions of > 4 cps/.
  • Identifies radiation in seconds.
  • Can operate in temperatures between -30°C to 60°C.
  • Create contamination and geolocated hotspots maps.
  • Weighs less than 1kg.
