Teledyne FLIR have launched their newest Radionuclide Identification Device (RID): the identiFINDER R425 UW. Building on the success of the original model, the R425 UW has been designed and built specifically for humid environments and prolonged underwater usage with a higher dose capability by increasing the GM tube to 10 Sv/h and the inclusion of a LaBr detector offers better energy resolution than standard NaI based models.

A ruggedised design for monitoring in difficult scenarios

With protection against water ingress, the R425 UW is IP68 rated to an underwater depth of 20 meters (66 feet), meaning it can be submerged entirely and still function as intended. It is also compliant with MIL-STD-810G (Salt Fog), meaning the device and its durability have been rigorously tested to standards defined by the US Department of Defense for environmental testing. This protection combined with a ruggedised design means it is an ideal instrument for environmental monitoring in the wake of accidental contamination, search and rescue dive operations, and decontamination during high-pressure washing.
