Rapid analysis for bulk and trace amounts

908 Devices has expanded its range of detectors following its acquisition of RedWave Technology, who are leading manufacturers of portable FTIR spectroscopic analyzers for rapid chemical identification. As the UK’s exclusive distributor for 908 Devices, Southern Scientific can now provide a wider range of options for the detection and identification of unknown solids, liquids, vapors, and aerosols.

This acquisition introduces three new analyzers and provides users with specific substance identification abilities across a broad range of bulk materials. All models are robust and designed for extensive field work, with a practical design for easy use in demanding situations.

What new capabilities does this provide UK emergency and security services with?

FTIR optical spectroscopy can detect minute samples suitable for bulk analysis and provides precise spectral resolution for clear identification of compounds. It can be used for organic and inorganic compounds identification and allows comparatively faster analysis than dispersive infrared methods to provide instant results. It uses NDT to analyze samples without altering or destroying them, preserving material for further investigation later.

The XplorIR

As a handheld gas/vapor detector, the XplorIR can analyze 5,600 unknown chemical threats in seconds. It can be used to continuously monitor an area or be used to “point and shoot” for identification of a specific target.

It is designed for Chemical Warfare Agents (Nerve, Blister, Choking) and Hazardous Chemicals (Toxic Industrial Chemicals, Toxic Industrial Materials, Volatile Organic Compounds).

The ThreatID

Designed specifically for chemical threats, the ThreatID can accurately identify more than 23,000 chemicals in powder and liquid states. Portable and lightweight, it can transition from gas/vapor sampling to power/liquids in seconds.

It is designed for Chemical Warfare Agents (Nerve, Blister, Choking), Hazardous Chemicals (Toxic Industrial Chemicals, Toxic Industrial Materials, Volatile Organic Compounds), Explosives, and Narcotics (Fentanyl, Nitazenes).

The ProtectIR

Compact and lightweight, the ProtectIR is designed for rapid, on-the-spot analysis of over 23,000 chemicals in solid and liquid state. It is designed for Hazardous Chemicals (Toxic Industrial Chemicals, Toxic Industrial Materials, Volatile Organic Compounds), Explosives, and Narcotics (Fentanyl, Nitazenes).
